Voice Care Recipe
What food can help you take care of your voice?
I get this question a lot from my students and that is why I decided to write this post.
Simple things such as salt water gargle and sipping hot water with ginger, honey, and lemon work great. Also, reducing your smokes helps a lot in sustaining your efforts. Inhaling steam also helps. All these are home remedies that have been used for centuries perhaps.
In this post, I am going to share an equally simple recipe for a powder that I make at home which does wonders for my throat and so, it’s the top in the list of food to take care of voice.
Here it goes.
All you need is three basic ingredients.

White Sugar
Black Pepper Corns
Ghee
You can buy Ghee from the store or check this link to make it on your own.
Now, the process is very simple:
- Heat a pan and keep the flame low. Add a spoon of Ghee.
- Add Black Pepper Corns and fry them up till they start popping.
- Switch off the flame and set the pan aside and let it cool.
- Add the fried up black pepper to a mixer and add equal parts of sugar and grind to a fine powder.
That’s it! You can store this powder in an air tight jar and it will last for ages.
How to consume it?
Whenever you have a sore throat, just take half a teaspoon of this powder and gulp it down dry. DON’T drink water afterward (can lead to loosies). Let the pepper work on your throat. You might feel a weird sensation in your ears – like steam is coming out of them. Also, your sinuses might clear up.
You can also put this powder in hot milk and add some turmeric powder. It’s delicious! You can add this to your tea or coffee too but, nothing works as well as consuming it dry.
I have been consuming this powder for years now in various forms and it has always worked for me.
Go ahead and try it!
Note: You shouldn’t consume this if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Duh!
